Around 1,400 participants and 400 industry representatives from across the D/A/CH region travelled to Lucerne, thereby underscoring the significance of vascular medicine and their support for the specialist societies. The KKL Lucerne offered an ideal setting for this congress – and will again provide the perfect venue for the upcoming SCS Congress from 10 to 12 June 2026.
The scientific programme comprised numerous sessions, symposia and workshops, covering the full spectrum of vascular medicine. In addition, the necessity of coordinated, cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral care, existing barriers, and potential solution strategies were addressed. New aspects of the “connected hospital” as well as the application of artificial intelligence (AI) also featured prominently.
For the first time at a vascular medicine event held in Switzerland, a specialist nursing conference was integrated into the programme – an important signal for interprofessional collaboration among all healthcare professionals.
The programme developed by young colleagues for the Young Forum of the DGG offered an impressive variety of formats. The topics ranged from fundamentals and first steps in vascular medicine to practice-oriented hands-on workshops, as well as innovative formats such as the Vascular Triathlon (“EVST meets Young Forums”) and the European Guideline Quiz.
Particularly noteworthy were the outstanding contributions of the students in the MAGIC Award Session, distinguished by scientific quality, commitment and enthusiasm.
Our sincere thanks go to all contributors, speakers, participants and sponsors who played a role in making this special event a success.
