It is our great pleasure to introduce our newest editorial-board member – Suna Erdem-Sanchez!
After earning her medical degree from the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Suna Erdem-Sanchez trained in general and visceral surgery at the Spital Thun, Inselspital Bern and Solothurn. She then did a postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Moores Cancer Center at University of San Diego (UCSD), USA. Her particular interest lies in early-phase translational research, where findings from preclinical studies are translated into first-in-human applications. This step is essential for designing meaningful clinical trials and ensuring that novel insights are brought closer to patient benefit. Currently, she works as an attending visceral surgeon at Clarunis –University Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases in Basel.
Suna would like to contribute to SWISS/KNIFE by supporting the dissemination of high-quality research and encouraging younger colleagues to pursue academic medicine in the interest of improving patient outcomes through collaborative, evidence-driven work.
