Während meiner Assistenzarztzeit haben mir die sehr informativen Artikel und Beiträge des SWISS / KNIFE geholfen, mich in meiner Fachrichtung weiterzuentwickeln. Im Editorial Board setze ich mich dafür ein, dass auch jetzige und zukünftige Assistenzärzt:innen davon profitieren können. Mein Interesse gilt besonders der Koloproktologie, welche ich den Leser:innen gerne näherbringen möchte.
Severe abdominal pain was the reason for the visit to our emergency department. Only a twist in the computed tomography images led to the correct diagnosis.
A 76-year-old patient presented in septic shock with diffuse abdominal pain two days after upper endoscopy. Fluid resuscitation and broad-spectrum antibiotics were administered. Initial diagnostics revealed an enlarged stomach wall. After further detoriation and development of an abdominal compartment syndrome a partial gastrectomy and open-abdomen treatment was performed.
